Losses force garden trustees to abandon all year opening

The future of Borde Hill Gardens, near Hayhwards Heath, is in doubt following the shock announcement that the gardens will close on a full-time basis to the public from September.

There are no indications whether jobs are under threat but there are suggestions that the gardens, one of the most popular attractions in Sussex, will be open in a limited form in future years.

An Animals Antics Day scheduled for May and one of the most populer events on the calendar there, is then only regular event so far to be cancelled this year.
