Make Coffee Not War with Bexhill Fairtrade

FAIRTRADE campaigners are celebrating the beginning of One World Week next Saturday by brewing up a cup of tea or coffee - ethically produced, of course.

They are urging young and old in Bexhill to join them in St Mary Magdalene's Church hall for the launch from October 16.

Committee spokesman Jack Doherty said: "The theme this year is so relevant '“ Peacing Together One World. This is our Fairtrade Town activity. Feel free to browse the Fairtrade stalls and have a chat as you enjoy your cuppa.

"This can be your effort to save our future.

"At 11am witness the smashing of the Pinata bank to release the money to the poor - but will they receive it ?

"Bexhill as a Fairtrade Town is proudly buying and selling more Fairtrade goodies from soap and confectionery in Sackville Road, clothes, coffee, sugar and creations in Sea Road, Fairtrade wines and chocolates in Western Road, and across the railway, bananas in the Co-op stores, Sainsburys and Tesco, and beverages in 19 cafes, restaurants and pubs.

"We are waiting to hear if our application for renewal of Fairtrade status is successful. Support us by your cuppa on the October 16, please."
