Man sent to hospital following Boxing Day assault

POLICE are seeking information after a man was assaulted in Wick on Boxing Day.

Officers were called to Courtwick Road just before 9pm on Monday, December 26, after a report that a 45-year-old man had been attacked in the street by another man when he went to intervene after seeing that man hit a woman he was with.

The victim was kept at Worthing Hospital for several days with a broken rib, facial injuries and other cuts and bruise.

A 30-year-old man from Wick has been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm, and was released on police bail until Wednesday, February 1, while enquiries continue.

Police are urging anyone with any information to call 101 quoting serial 1020 of 26/12 or call independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
