Monday - Musical Festival starts

HASTINGS Musical Festival has started today as the competition celebrates its 100th birthday.

Tickets for the ever-popular event are on sale and can be purchased along with a programme of events, priced 3.50, from The White Rock Theatre.

Prices range from 5 for a ticket to an individual session up to 30 for membership which covers every event, except three gala nights. Concessions are available for children, OAP and registered disabled.

The festival will see hundreds of participants competing for dozens of prizes and, as always, the standard will be high.

Highlights include the Gold Medal Singing on Friday, March 23, and the fiercely competitive Piano Concerto Competition Finals on Saturday, March 17.

Another special event is scheduled for the Saturday March 10 when the festival will welcome back six past entrants who have gone on to have successful careers in performing.

They will form a panel of judges for the entertainment showcase.

Competition gets underway on Monday with preliminary rounds of the Piano Concerto Concert Standard and Speech competitions.
