Mum's inspiration

A mum was inspired to run in the London Marathon by her son who needs a kidney transplant.

Sue Gorringe, 47, from North Way, Lewes, raised 3,000 for Kidney Research UK.

She took 4hrs 44mins.

Sue said: 'My son Sam was there watching me and the support of my husband, family and friends has been fantastic.

'I had not run a twenty miles plus marathon before, only a fifteen mile one.

'The hardest part was reaching nineteen miles but then I realised that I wasn't far from the finishing line.

'I had an injury a month before the event and could not train for three weeks.

'The crowds certainly keep me going on the day itself!'

Sue received a cheque for 100 from Lewes Waitrose supermarket for the run.

Next year Sue, a nurse, who has been running for two years, plans to tackle the London Marathon again.
