Musical talents can be heard at different events

James Lloyd Thomas will play the 1910 Hele Organ at St Wilfrid’s Parish Church, Ellasdale Road, on July 4 from 1.10pm to 2pm.

Spokesman Lawrence Wood said: “We are certain to be in for a real treat! This free concert is part of a series organised by Rex Latter, resident organist at the church.

“There will be teas and coffees available, and there is a retiring collection.

“James Lloyd Thomas first played the organ as a young boy at Halesowen Grammar School was awarded the junior organ scholarship at Birmingham Conservatoire.

“Later, James gained a place at Trinity College, London. He won prizes and scholarships and went on to graduate with honours.

“James’ teaching career led him to Oundle School, where he combined the roles of organist and teacher as Director of Chapel Music.

“Currently, James is director of music at Holy Cross Church in Uckfield and organist to the University of Sussex as well as maintaining a busy schedule of recitals and accompaniment.

“He is also director to the Sussex University Chamber Choir, the Ravenscroft Singers and the newly-formed Canticle Chamber Choir.”

The next concert in the 60 Minutes Of Classical Music series at Bognor’s Regis Centre is on July 6 at 7.30pm.

Spokesman Roger Clayden said: “The fantastic London violinist Clive Dobbins returns to 60 Mins as part of our string quartet.

“The artists are taking the 60 Mins concert series more and more seriously, and for this performance they have insisted on 12 hours of rehearsal spread over four days.

“I am sure with this level of commitment, the performance will be the best yet.”
