North Bersted site told to improve security after traveller occupation

HOUSEBUILDER Berkeley Homes has been told by the police to improve security at its North Bersted site.

PCSO Ollie Smith told Bersted parish councillors on Tuesday (July 10) the firm had been urged to install bollards around its land off Berry Lane to stop a repeat occupation by travellers.

A group of travellers spent about a week there until they were moved on last week.

PCSO Smith said: “They didn’t cause any damage getting on the site and I’ve spoken to Berkeley Homes about securing it better to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
