Badminton clubs meet in the Pretious Sports Hall every Friday at 5.30pm (Juniors) 6.30pm (Secondary) and 8pm (adults). Dance Club meets in the Village Hall at 7.30pm.

On Saturday, in the Village Hall, supporters of St Michael’s Hospice invite you to a Coffee Morning to raise funds for this local charity. There will be home-made cakes, bring and buy, a raffle, cards, bric-a-brac, gifts and books all on sale between 10am and 12 noon.

A Stroll in the Park is the title of this week’s Footpath Group walk, meeting at 1.15pm in the surgery car park heading to Harmers Reservoir Car Park, off Upper Park Road, Hastings. It’s a 3mile, gentle walk, which come highly recommended. All welcome!

Monday being a Bank Holiday, I am not sure if the regular clubs will be meeting. I’m sure we can expect rain, though!

Three lovely gardens are open on Tuesday, in aid of St Michael’s Hospice. Glebe House, Pretious Fields and Frewen College will be open between 10.30am and 4pm. Admission £5. Homemade refreshments will be on sale at Frewen College.

Pilates classes are at 9am and 10am in the Village Hall on Wednesdays, and Coffee Stop meets in the Church Centre between 10am and 12 noon, with all-comers invited to pause for a cuppa and a chat.

Wednesday night is Bingo Night at the Hayes Inn, from 7pm.

Thursday Seniors’ will be treated to a film this week, and the Citizens Advice Bureau will be available in the Village Hall 10am-12noon.

This month’s Village Hall Coffee Morning Market will be held next Friday from 10am to 12 noon with various stalls and the chance to chat over a coffee (and cake).

Next Saturday (1st June) there will be the NSPCC Coffee Morning at Farthings, Main Street, Northiam, when you can enjoy the garden in all its late spring glory as well as browsing the stalls – bric-a-brac, books, cakes and raffle. Entry is £2.50 and everyone will be very welcome.

For your diaries, the Bonfire Society are holding a Garden Safari on Sunday 16th June when a selection of private gardens will be open, most for the first time.

The Iden & Frewen Educational Foundation will be considering applications for grants at their next meeting on June 24th. Cash grants are available for educational purposes to residents of Northiam who are under 25 years of age, undertaking further or higher education, an apprenticeship or equivalent, or sporting activities at county level.
