I can no longer hold back views

I can no longer hold back from commenting on the state of our beloved pier. What have they done to it?

Everyday when I pass by this once icon of my youth I feel nothing but despair.

The monstrosity sitting in the middle surrounded by what can only be described as garden sheds is heartbreaking to see.

Why did they not restore it to glorious past, (after all did not a large proportion of the cash come from the Heritage Lottery)?

How many days of the year will one be able to sit in the outdoor cinema/theatre, what an utter waste of money.

Whilst I appreciate this may be to some people’s taste it is certainly not to me and many friends who have lived here for most of their lives.

Maybe we can longer attract the many big names who appeared on the pier in the past, but I am sure we could have come up with something better than what appears to be arising from the flames.

No wonder Hastings is dying a slow death, first the closure of the coach park to accommodate The Jerwood, (which has meant a loss of day trippers), now this.

What is next I wonder?
