LETTER: Keep air shows at a distance
In a split second I saw the insignia on the plane, I could feel the throb of the engine, I was aware of heat being radiated from the plane’s bodywork. I did not feel thrilled or exhilarated. I was petrified. Whilst I am aware of the fact that the display team are exceptional regarding accuracy and brilliant teamwork, there is always an exception to the rule.
I am a survivor of the Coventry blitz. In November 1940 a landmine was dropped outside the front door of our home in which I was sheltering with my brother and my parents. We crawled out of the ruins. I need no reminder of how it feels to be the victim of an air attack.
