LETTER: Watch out for possible conman

An unfamiliar man stood at the door saying he was a neighbour and asked us for money. He said his brother was coming back from Nigeria and needed the train fare from London to Hastings.

We are a couple in our late 80s, have lived in this house for 27 years and know our neighbours well. He was not one . We turned him away empty handed.

We followed him up the road where he asked another neighbour for money, then knocked at the door of a second, telling the same story. He was neatly dressed, in his mid 20s, white, dark flat top haircut, checked shoulder bag, black trousers and black shoes with fashionably pointy toes. He spoke with a local accent.

I suggest that anyone being approached by him beware of yet another fraudster.
