Forest School takes the lead in working with parents

The Compton’s Lane School has earned the award in recognition of its commitment to working with parents to promote learning both in school and in the wider community.

Developed by Prospects, one of the UK’s leading providers of services for the education and skills sector, the Leading Parent Partnership Award is a nationally recognised award which is endorsed by the Department for Schools, Children and Families. The Award is designed to help strengthen and enhance the relationship between parents, children and their schools.

To be given this award the school had to show that it is a welcoming and friendly place for parents and visitors, that it keeps parents fully informed about their children’s work in school, their attendance and academic progress and that it is determined to expand the range of learning and enrichment opportunities for both students and parents.

Siobhan Denning, Headteacher, said: “We have always strived to work closely with our parents and the wider community and wanted to show our commitment to this by working towards this award. It is thanks to the hard work of the Senior Leadership Team, Governors, our Parents and the whole staff team that we have successfully shown our commitment to building and maintaining these valuable on-going relationships”.

Parent Governor, Mr Timperley, added: “It has been a very worthwhile process and fantastic that the school has been recognised for all the work that it does to support parents. As a Parent Governor I know that the school values parents’ views and actively works hard to constantly improve the home-school relationship.”
