Full support for railway plan

I refer to your article in the Battle Observer Friday, February 10 issue regarding the divisive railway plan withdrawn.

I think it is a wonderful idea to join up the railway from Robertsbridge to the Udiam bridges making a proper steam railway through to Tenterden.

Not only would it be good for tourism in general but beneficial to Robertsbridge itself.

A level crossing on the A21 would not cause traffic problems on the A21, actually it would slow traffic down a bit, not a bad thing at all.

It is not exactly Eurostar rushing across there and across farmland every 30 minutes. A proper level crossing gate can be perfectly operated on the A21 on the few times the steam trains would have to cross.

I believe there was a railway to Tenterden before and it now makes perfect sense to join it all up again, so I feel the landowners in question objecting to the idea should give the whole proposition more thought, and as I mentioned earlier, it is not Eurostar running through their land or HS2.

I cannot think of anything nicer than having a lovely steam train running along the bottom of my field from time to time.

I hope sense will prevail and not greed, and hope Rother Valley Railway win their battle, and they wholeheartedly have my support.
