Horsted Keynes gear up for annual fundraising fun run

On Friday June 20, Fit For Moore will be sponsoring and running the annual Horsted Keynes fun run to raise funds for the friend of St Giles School.

A fantastic family event in the beautiful village of Horsted Keynes there are races for all ages from Pre-School upwards.

This year the event will take place on the recreation ground and there will be a barbeque, beer tent and activities for the children once the adult 4.5 mile race takes place. In addition this year we are also hosting some sponsored Children’s relay races for teams of 4 and all funds raised from these races will go towards buying the children of St Giles a special PE Kit which can be worn at external sporting events around Mid-Sussex when they are representing the school.

Helen Vince, Chair of the PTA committee, said: “St Giles C of E is a small school with only 124 children attending and we have a very active PTA in the village but funds are always tight and we try to put as much money towards enrichment activities for the children.

“Currently we don’t have funds set aside to buy proper PE Kit for the children unlike many of the other larger schools in the area. We thought a special activity where the children raise their own sponsorship would be a great thing to do,” she added.

“Lisa Moore from Fit for Moore, Haywards Heath, has 2 children at the school currently and has very kindly agreed to help organize the fun run for the second year and came up with the idea of the relays, she is also coming into school over the next couple of weeks to help train the children for the evening!”.

Entries are open to all and medals are given to first, second and third place. Last year we were blessed by the most beautiful weather so fingers crossed for this year.
