Let us hear from women

Given that this week we have been celebrating International Woman's Day, I find it rather strange that the European Referendum debate has so far largely ignored 51 per cent of the population '“ women.

Debate has been dominated thus far by male politicians but I believe the calmer , more rational voice of women needs to be heard more.

Recent polling suggests there are far more women yet to make up their minds how to vote on June 23 than men, in fact, up to twice as many.

There are female voices to be heard in the In Campaign from Caroline Lucas, the Green MP, Frances O’Grady, the TUC general secretary, the Easyjet boss, Dame Carolyn McCall to Tory peer Karen Brady. Please let us hear more from them.

Women from all backgrounds benefit from being in the EU.

The EU ensures equal pay for work of equal value; it underpins our maternity (and paternity) rights, and since women are likely to be in part-time, fixed term and agency employment, thanks to the EU, many more women can enjoy rights to equal treatment in line with full time workers.

It is most important that over half of the UK population recognise all those they have for remaining in the EU.
