Lions roar to record

ARUNDEL, Barnham and District Lions Club is extremely pleased to report record collections at its events at this year's Arundel Festival and would like to thank the townspeople, their friends and all the visitors for their generosity.

Despite inclement weather on the Bank Holiday Monday, 150 was raised at the inaugural Town Fair at Arundel football ground and collections during the band performances throughout the week in the Town Square and Jubilee Gardens raised a further 650.

Our Festival Duck Race prizes this year were again sponsored by local businesses and with the race being a sell-out, an additional 968 was added to the funds.

Terry Bedford, proprietor of the St Mary's Gate Inn and White Hart and organiser and sponsor of the last night finale fireworks, kindly allowed the Lions to collect at the event and with help from Tyndall Jones a further 178.45 was raised for our main beneficiary this year, the Sussex Air Ambulance.

Almost 2,000 in total '” our sincere thanks to everyone.
