Mayor’s absence

In my ignorance I thought our representatives were supposed to reside in the area and in normal times to be available to their constituents.

But I was, it appears, mistaken. Councillor and present mayor Joyce Bowyer does not reside in our county but in Hampshire with, it is assumed, the acceptance of our council.

I hope, therefore, that councillor Bowyer is paid her travel allowance from the West Sussex border and not all the way from Hampshire.

I have no doubt that our thoughtful councillor has not overlooked this and does not claim for something to which she is not entitled.

No doubt she, or one of her group, will tell us.
