Newbridge Flower Show ‘reaches for the sky’

Whilst the Chelsea Flower Show may be over, Newbridge Nurseries has been hosting its own version of the national event to mark its 100th year and is delighted to announce that Zoe Bruce, a Hardy Plant Supervisor at Newbridge, is the winner with her garden ‘Reach for the Sky’.

Staff at Newbridge Nurseries were invited to take part in the competition to design their own garden, with eight displays situated throughout the garden centre. Customers were invited to vote for their favourite.

Zoe, age 35 of Horsham, described how her idea for her garden design was born from her love of clematises. The name of her garden stems from the fact that clematis is a climber plant but also reflects reaching for personal aspirations. The colours used in the garden also tie into the theme, centred on white, yellow and blue to reflect the colours in the sky.

Nigel Wait, Managing Director of Newbridge Nurseries, commented: “The Chelsea Flower Show is such a firm feature in the gardening calendar and we wanted to celebrate the occasion in our own way.

“We are lucky to have a whole host of talented staff members and this gave them the chance to show off their skills. At Newbridge, we like to do things properly so we wanted to make it into a real show. I was very impressed by all of the designs but a big congratulations to Zoe on winning.”

Zoe commented: “Gardening is a real passion of mine so it was fantastic to be given the opportunity to get involved in this event. I am absolutely delighted to have won as there was some stiff competition from some of my colleagues and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.”
