Overwhelmed by beauty of Rustington

I am a visitor from Australia staying with friends in East Preston and I am compelled to write to congratulate all the council officers on Rustington Parish Council.

I first visited Rustington for shopping with friends in late March this year and was overwhelmed by the absolute pristine cleanliness of the local shopping district and the wonderful volume of potted plants and the terraced gardens that are at every possible turn to see.

I was so overtaken by the prettiness that on several occasions I just sat at one of the many benches and enjoyed the views.

Now, since then I have travelled throughout the south of England and west to historic Towns such as Bath, Romsey, York and Manchester and I can truly say that Rustington stands alone in its care and love of its village.

Recently, I have had to, on several occasions, take the bus to Littlehampton and each and every time I recognise when we are entering Rustington with a gasp of joy, seeing the flowers in all so many colours and many types – it always leaves me breathless!

And for this, I have had to write to let you know of the joy it has given me each and every time I passed through.

At Easter, I had a friend who had recently moved back to Romsey from Australia stay with me and we came to Rustington (as a child up to the age of 15, her family always came to Rustington for their annual holidays) and she was overjoyed by all the flowers as well, and all her fond memories came flooding back.

We truly had a lovely afternoon walking the shopping district and then having a lovely lunch at the Lamb.

I will definitely vote for Rustington if there is an award for the “The Most Beautiful Village”.

Thank you for all the effort to maintain this high level of beauty.
