Perhaps Arun will heed their own words on jobs

I ATTENDED the Thompson/Greencore presentation for development proposals at Lyminster/Toddington last week, and was shocked to hear a local employer tell the audience that the development would almost certainly lead to the closure of his business and the loss of around 120 jobs.

He leases the greenhouses from Greencore to grow strawberries, raspberries, etc.

On August 27, Arun councillors voted that "the council overwhelmingly supports that, where greenfield releases have to be made, this should take the form of sustainable urban extensions in the Arun district".

However, at the same council meeting the councillors also voted that "retention of existing viable employment sites is considered vital in regenerating Arun's coastal towns, as well as in rural areas".

Perhaps, in order to save this businessman and his employees many sleepless nights, Arun would consider giving early confirmation that it views this site as an existing viable employment site worthy of retention?
