Roads are awful

I AM in full agreement with Dave Sax’s comment (Gazette letters, December 15) about the North Littlehampton development.

It’s clear to all the roads round Littlehampton, Rustington, Angmering and the surrounding area will not be able to cope with all the extra traffic this will cause.

It’s clear, that is, to all except the council and the highways department.

Let’s face it, if they cannot maintain the roads we have now, how an earth will they cope with more and more traffic caused by more and more development in this area?

If you think back to the days when all the road work and maintenance was done by the council, before it went out to the private sector, we never had all these potholes then, it just got sorted.

In Mill Road, Angmering, there has been a dip across the whole road for at least two years which is now getting worse.

Turning left towards the A259, there are again bumps and dips which have been there for at least three years. Someone seems very good at painting white lines around these and they seem to think that is the end to it.

To list all the roads with potholes and other damage would take up most of the letters page and more.

So please, all you council and highways management, get yourselves into forward gear and out of reverse.

The current system is not working at all, so wake up and sort it, please.
