Stunned by ‘cruelty’

I WAS stunned to read about the plight of Jackie Young (Gazette, December 1).

I can’t believe the government could be so cruel.

In the article, a person from the UK Border Agency said that the rules were “firm but fair”.

To kick a loved 19-year-old out of her family home, and then send her to a completely different country, with no money, accommodation and family, sounds nothing short of barbaric, let alone unfair.

I can’t begin to comprehend the upset this family must be going through and my deepest thoughts and sympathies are with them.

I hope that the solicitors can fight for justice and find a way to keep this poor young lady in the country that she deserves to be in.
