Thanks to Rye’s Chernobyl runners

Chernobyl Children Rye would like to thank everyone for their very generous support for our five runners in the Hastings Half-Marathon on Sunday.

They raised over £3,100 which will go towards the nurses who work for the Home Hospice Team in Pinsk, in south-west Belarus, who visit the families of terminally ill children, and those severely handicapped, giving them physical, psychological and spiritual help.

Sergei and Tanya Plotnistki, who run the team, have also started a club for the mother’s to go to once a week. Their vision is now to build a small children’s hospice in Pinsk, as the nearest hospice for children is a four-hour drive away in Minsk. Thank you for giving you support and help to these children and their families, victims of the Chernobyl disaster 25 years ago.
