Organisation of 10k was top-notch

I had to write to express my thanks for the excellent organisation of the Bognor Prom 10K on Sunday. It was my first 10K race and I was apprehensive beforehand about how well the route would be marked, and marshalled.

My husband and I are fortunate to have friends living in Bognor Regis, so we came to Bognor specifically for the run at the weekend, but we are not too familiar with the area. The organisation before the race started was excellent, with the runners being grouped sensibly for their expected finish time (I am a s-l-o-w runner and tucked in at the back).

Once underway the route was very clearly marked and the marshals were really friendly and encouraging. Special mention must be made to the generosity of the residents on the Summerley Estate for providing water; much needed by the halfway point. I must also commend the Bognorians themselves who stayed out in the rain all along the route to encourage and cheer on those of us who were at the rear of the field.

Topping off the day with a superb roast dinner at Ollie’s Cafe on the green (by the bowling club) made for an excellent Bognor Regis experience!

Many thanks to the Rotary Club, police, council and all concerned. I can’t wait to sign up again for next year.
