The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy (DVLT) will be holding the fundraising day in the gardens at the Unitarian Church in Worthing Road, Horsham, on Saturday May 10.

Nikki Cannon, regional fundraiser for the DVLT, said: “We are delighted to be able to host our event at the Unitarian Church in Horsham and thank them kindly for their support.

“This is the first year that we have held this type of event and we are hopeful that with the support of the local community our series of open gardens will be a great success for the charity,” she added.

“We are already planning ahead for next year so if you would like to get involved by opening your garden or volunteering we would love to hear from you!”

Open from 11am until 3pm, visitors will get the chance to get up close with an array of spectacular birds of prey from ‘Owls Out and About’.

Nikki added: “We hope to have 12 owls with us on the day and a variety of breeds. The picture is of Indi the Barn Owl who hopes to be with us. We should also have a Brown owl, Little owl, Long-eared owl and Tawny owl among others.”

Other attractions on the day include homemade refreshments courtesy of Wildwood PR who are hosting their very own ‘bake off’, a raffle and the chance to view the gardens of the Unitarian Church.

Entry is free but as no parking is available at the church, it is advised that visitors use the town centre car parks.

This open day is just one of a series of open garden fundraisers already planned by the charity across the district.

Sponsored by Newbridge Nurseries, the other events will take place on June 21 in Broadbridge Heath and on July 6 in Rudgwick.
