Paul awarded medal for his long service

A Territorial Army soldier from Bognor Regis has been honoured for his lengthy service.

Staff Sergeant Paul Ramsay was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal.

This celebrates the 50th anniversary of the monarch's reign. It is awarded to all current servicemen who have served for at least five years.

Staff Sergeant Ramsay (43) has been in the Territorials for 13 years. A self-employed builder, he serves with 150 Recovery Company Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers based in Redhill.

His medal was presented by the mayor of Reigate, Cllr Dorothy Ross-Tomlin.

REME soldiers are the military equivalent of the AA.

They provide specialised teams that recover, repair and maintain vital military equipment and vehicles.
