did the 10-mile ride, which she completed in first place, in one hour and 40 minutes, raising 255 for the charity.

Trudy and her 82-year old husband, Ron, are keen cyclists, often going out for bike rides.

Despite her wait for knee surgery, Trudy remains active, playing badminton and short tennis and regularly going to

keep fit classes.

She said her family had advised her against doing the bike ride.

"My husband Ron is always so afraid for me because of my knee, but he came along on the day to help me with my bike. I

have to ride a special bike because I'm so short, but it suits me well."

Trudy added: "I think it's important to help the hospice because it is such a worthy cause. I will do all I can."
