13 big events to look forward to in Mid Sussex during 2020

These are 13 of the events planned in the area this year, many of them annual favourites.

The Cuckoo Fayre started in the late 70s and takes place in the Recreation Ground on May Day Bank Holiday (Monday, May 4). The Independent State of Cuckfield (ISOC) is the overall organiser of the Cuckoo Fayre, but only receives a pitch fee from each participating organisations which goes towards covering the costs including insurance and the hire of the Cuckfield Recreation Ground. The Cuckoo Fayre is a collection of stalls run by various organisations and each keeps the money raised on its stall to contribute to their own funds and causes. In 2019 the Wheel of Wine was run for the first time by the Cuckfield Dramatic Society rather than the ISOC committee. This Wheel of Fortune offers a bottle of wine to the winner of each spin and is always a popular attraction. Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend is set to take place from Saturday, May 23 to Monday, May 25.Organiser say they are 'the only event to bring the three towns of Mid Sussex East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill'. More than 1,600 runners took part in 2019, and this year there will be the option of a half-marathon. The new Mid Sussex half marathon event will include a five mile race in East Grinstead, a five mile race in Haywards Heath and a five kilometre race in Burgess Hill. Just like the full marathon, you can run one, two or run all three races to cover the distance of a half marathon. The Mid Sussex Marathon, offering three races two ten mile races in both East Grinstead and Haywards Heath, and the ten kilometre in Burgess Hill. All three combine to cover a total of 26.2 miles the distance of a marathon. Runners are are able to enter each race individually or complete all three. Main Races start at 10.30am each day. Haywards Heath Town Day will take place on Saturday, September 12 in Victoria Park, 120 South Road, Haywards Heath. The event runs from 12pm until late. The town also has its Spring Festival on Sunday, April 26, at Muster Green from 1.30 to 4.30 and its VE Day Celebrations on Friday, May 8 on Muster Green from 3pm to 6pm. There will also be the 2020 2020 Yesterday and Tomorrow Week of Events - organised by Haywards Heath Town Team during the week of September 7 and includes a whole day of events in the town on Sunday, September 13.
