South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed crews were called to reports that a person had collapsed at the leisure centre in Pasture Hill Road at 6.20pm on Monday (February 10).
A spokesman said: “Ambulance crews attended the scene and the person, who required resuscitating, was then taken to Princess Royal Hospital in a serious condition.
“We would like to thank everyone at the scene who helped the patient prior to our arrival.”
