Eastbourne Town Hall clock to be illuminated in support of two global events

The clock on Eastbourne Town Hall will be lit up with different colours to support two global events.

The town hall clock will be lit up red by Eastbourne Borough Council on Thursday, December 1, to mark World AIDS Day.

A council spokesperson said: “Supporters will also be wearing red ribbons to raise awareness about HIV and fight the stigma experienced by some of the 105,000 people who live with the condition in the UK.”

On Friday, December 2, the town hall clock will be illuminated orange in support of a campaign to end violence against women and girls.

The spokesperson added: “The United Nations’ initiative ‘UNITE! Activism to End Violence against Women and Girls’ is running for 16 days until December 10.”

Locally, the Eastbourne branch of Soroptimist International is backing the campaign with a silent vigil at the town hall on Sunday, December 4. The vigil will begin at 3.30pm.
