Shoppers in Lewes will welcome the return of the Late Night Shopping event this December.

The Lewes Chamber of Commerce has confirmed the event will return on Thursday, December 1, with the High Street closed from the Natwest building at the bottom of School Hill, up to just beyond the bottleneck by The Brewers Arms.

Shops in the centre of Lewes will be staying open till 9pm, with the focus of the event being to promote local, independent business.

The popular Best Dressed Window Competition will return, with a number of shops and businesses in the town looking to win with an eye-catching design.

The main judge will be the Mayor of Lewes, who will award the winner with an engraved trophy and certificate to display in their shop, plus a year's free membership to the Chamber.

There will also be numerous attractions to get shoppers in the Christmas spirit including – Santa's grotto, children's rides, craft market, food stalls, street entertainment and music.
