Royal baby: Mayor of Brighton and Hove sends congratulations to Duke and Duchess of Sussex

The Mayor of Brighton and Hove has sent her congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of a baby boy yesterday (May 6).

Cllr Dee Simson, the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, said: “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this happy news. I am delighted to join the many well wishers from around the world in celebrating the arrival of the Royal baby.

“It was a privilege to welcome the Royal couple on their first visit to our city last autumn. I hope we shall soon see their return to the county as a Royal family.

“As a grandmother myself, I also send congratulations to Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of the birth of her eighth grandchild.”

In a statement on Prince Harry and Meghan's Instagram it says: "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6, 2019.

"Their Royal Highnesses' son weights 7lbs 3oz.

"The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.

"More details will be shared in the forthcoming days."
