Wood you believe it? Nobby has a very lucky escape

MEET Nobby '“ the newest resident of Bognor Regis.

He was found on one of two planks of wood which a resident bought at the town’s B&Q store on Shripney Road.

The man noticed what he thought was a baby crocodile as he took the wood to his car.

He quickly took it to the nearby Pets at Home.

Two sales assistants placed the reptile in a box and called Brent Lodge Wildlife Trust.

One of the trust’s volunteers, Danny Dawes, said: “We found he was a Moorish/crocodile ghecko from the southern Mediterranean. He must have sneaked into the UK unnoticed and headed for the sun of Bognor.”

The charity notified AlphaPet in West Meads of the find and took him there.

Nobby’s lack of immigration records means he has to be kept there before he is taken to a zoo.

“He has been named Nobby for reasons unknown,” said Danny.
