It was lucky that nobody was injured on Saturday afternoon when the telephone wires pulled off the fascia board from the gable above the front door of the Queens Head pub at Sedlescombe.

The wires fell across the road outside the pub, opposite the village green.

Chris Hone, from Marley Lane, Battle, who took this picture of the situation being tackled, said: “The wires coming down displaced some tiles and exposed a few ancient bird nests.

“However, the staff of the Queens Head were on hand to lift the wires from the road and temporally secure them to the Pub sign.”

Mr Hone added: “BT Open Reach engineers attended within half an hour to secure the line pending a permanent repair.
