170 new solar panels to be built in Selsey

Plans for 170 new solar panels in Selsey have been approved.

The plans will see the installation of 170 420-watt panels by Trina Solar on three roof pitches.

The solar panels will generate electricity to supply Selsea Fish & Lobster Co.

The company applied for planning permission for the installation of the solar array as an alternative source of energy due to the company’s current electricity tariff expiring.

74 panels will be put on the on the south facing pitch of the factory, 66 on the north facing pitch of the factory and 30 on the lean-to roof to the south of the factory.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Selsey Town Council said: “There being no planning grounds for objection, Selsey Town Council supports this application.”
