Mid Sussex District Council has received an application to trim the trees at a popular play area in Haywards Heath.

HML management has applied via Kent County Tree Care LTD to reduce the crowns of four silver birch trees within Colwell Gardens, adjacent to Wellswood, by 2.5m.

The application said the aim is to ‘remove dead wood throughout’ and maintain ‘a safe and healthy tree’.

The trees are subject to a Tree Preservation Order and are in a conservation area but HML management said they own the trees.
