Voters went to the polls yesterday to vote on new West Sussex county councillors for a four year term.

Going into the election, there are 50 Conservative councillors, eight Lib Dems four Labour, four independents, two independent Conservatives and two vacancies. Throughout today (Friday May 7) and tomorrow (Saturday) we will bring you all the results as they come in from across the county.

  • All 70 divsions up for grabs
  • Bulk of results due today (Friday) with Adur and Worthing’s due to be counted Saturday

Alongside WSCC election results this weekend and seats at Adur, Crawley and Worthing, there are district council by-elections in:

Arun: Brookfield (Littlehampton) and Pevensey (Bognor Regis)

Horsham: Trafalgar

Mid Sussex: Copthorne and Worth

What happened back in 2017

Last time was a pretty resounding victory for the Conservatives, who took all the seats UKIP had won back in 2013. For the most part other opposition parties held their ground, although the Lib Dems picked up Rustington and Hassocks & Burgess Hill South. Elsewhere Labour came very close to taking a seat outside of Crawley over in Worthing East, finishing just 28 votes behind.

First results expected after lunchtime

The first results are expected after lunch on Friday, with counting taking place in Arun, Chichester, Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex. Adur and Worthing’s county council results are due to be announced on Saturday
