Potential buyer for Cooden hotel

AN OFFER has been made for the Jarvis Cooden Beach Hotel - although the name of the potential buyer has not been revealed.

A spokesman for Jarvis Ltd confirmed to the Observer on Wednesday that the company are still in "discussions" with another party.

Staff have been told the hotel is expected to be kept as a going concern.

They were advised in a recent letter the group, "have accepted an offer to sell the hotel and it is currently expected that subject to due diligence we will exchange contracts in the next few weeks."

Bexhill's premier hotel venue is being advertised with agents Christie and Co for 2.5 million.

The 40-bed building is the town's largest hotel and is licensed for wedding ceremonies.

The Observer recently reported how Rother District Council leader, Graham Gubby, has been trying to attract potential investors to take on the site.

Director of Human Resources and IT at Jarvis Hotels, Janet Gray, wrote to staff: "We understand that the purchaser will continue to operate the Cooden Beach Hotel as a hotel.

"We will ensure that they are aware and accept your existing terms and conditions of employment, which automatically transfer to him under the Transfer of Undertakings Regulations."
