Racegoer robbed in Fontwell.

Police are seeking a group of men who robbed a racegoer of his winnings at Fontwell.

About 4.30pm on Sunday, 13 November a 24-year-old local man was on his way home having been to a Fontwell race meeting.

He was walking along Arundel Road and as he paused by the bus stop opposite the petrol station a group of men attacked him, kicked him in the leg and ribs, and stole his wallet containing about £400 cash.

One of the group is described as white, about 26, tall, unshaven, and of large build.

Detective Constable Della Squires said: “Although it was a Sunday the area was busy, with the race meeting just finishing and the main A27 nearby.

“If you were in the area and can help in any way please contact us on 101 quoting serial 1138 of 13 November.

“You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 1111.”
