RAFA spring fair

"WE are not even meant to be open yet and we are already full, so that can't be bad."

RAFA president Ken Igglesden was delighted with the start made to the associations spring fair, at the Albatross Club, Channel View, on Saturday.

The public continued to pur in throughout the morning too, for the annual fund raiser in aid of the Wings appeal.

The fair hosted the traditional favourites including book stalls, cakes and bric-a-brac.

There was also a special raffle for an AVIA wristwatch - as issued to RAF Falcons - which had been donated by former town mayor Eric Armstrong.

Mr Igglesden, speaking on Monday morning, added: "We made nearly 600 which is about 40 up on last year so we are very pleased.

"We were going to have stalls outside but couldn't because of the wind. So we had fewer stalls but made more money."
