Residents' bird watch

Residents at Ashridge Court did their bit for Birdwatch when they set aside an hour to document activity in their garden.

Activities organiser Stuart Pemberton commented: “The RSPB has been running the garden Birdwatch campaign and encourage people to look into their garden for just an hour and count the number of different types of birds they see, and the maximum number of those birds. So on Saturday there was a little group of us looking out the window.”

They saw seven different species according to Stuart - these were blue tit, coal tit, jackdaw, magpie, robin and woodpigeon.

Stuart added: “The residents quite enjoyed it. We recently had a bird table put up outside, so they can watch from the lounge, to attract more birds and so that was working quite well even though it’s only been up a week. It’s helping to bring the birds in.”
