Road issue fears for new Partridge Green development

Since an application was submitted to Horsham District Council for land north of The Rise late last month at least 12 letters of objection have been received.

Residents pointed towards flooding in the area, poor public transport links, and existing safety concerns in Littleworth Lane as reasons why they opposed the application.

Rydon says it intends to provide 22 affordable housing units within proposals, in line with the 40 per cent target set by the council.

On HDC’s planning portal, one villager wrote: “Residents to the north of the site along Littleworth Lane have experienced repeated flooding to their homes because of the inadequate combined sewer system. An extra 55 would be totally unacceptable.”

Another resident who lives in The Rise added: “The access to Littleworth Lane is dangerous as it is close to the double bend travelling from the north and close to The Rise junction, we have problems with school time parking now, being unable at times to use our own drive.”

According to Rydon’s design and access statement, it is submitting the application on the basis of the 2009 document ‘Facilitating Appropriate Development’, and a shortfall in five-year housing land supply in the Horsham district.

The application is for 15 two-bedroom properties, 25 three-bedroom, 10 four-bedroom, and 5 five-bedroom units. Partridge Green is a category 2 settlement.
