Archaeus Quartet: will be performing tomorrow evening Saturday 1st October at St Mary’s Church Salehurst at 7.30pm. The doors open at 7pm with tickets on sale in advance at Judges Bakery or on the door tomorrow. This event will be the first concert in their cycle of Beethoven’s String Quartets. St Mary’s Church Salehurst: will be holding the Harvest Thanksgiving service this Sunday 2nd October with Communion. On Friday 7th October will be the Harvest Supper at Salehurst Primary School starting at 7pm. Tickets are available from the Church or Salehurst Halt or by ringing 07984420074 and will cost £7.00

Salehurst and Robertsbridge Neighbourhood Plan: in now out for consultation. There are posters around the village or you can go to robertsbridgeneigh bourhoodplan.org.uk to let the Steering Group know any suggestions you may have. This is concerning where and what sort of houses we need built in the village, what services we need, and any ideas of things that you have that could improve life in the village.

There will be open sessions in the Youth Centre on October 7th from 2pm – 8pm and Saturday 8th October between 10am – 4pm. If you have any ideas this is your chance to feed them back to the Group.

Robertsbridge and District Archaeological Society: is now starting its new season of meetings on the second Friday of the month. So starting on Friday October 14th at 7.30pm at Robertsbridge Hall with `Sussex in Old Films ` by Mick Hymans. Everyone is welcome to attend and if you would like to learn more about local History this is the place to go and find out more.

The Dementia Supper Club: takes place every month on the last Thursday at 6pm at The Ostrich. If you are a carer for someone with Dementia or you have Dementia maybe you feel you would like to get out at meet other people in your situation. You can go along for a meal or just a drink, but always a chat. Meet new friends and just get a bit extra support. A member of the ESCC Adult Social Care Dept. will be there for support and to give guidance and provide information. Last Sunday: 25th September there were 2 things happening in our village to raise funds for St Michaels Hospice. Firstly Ria Paine and her son Toby took part in a sponsored walk along Hastings seafront and raised nearly £500.00, so well done to you both. Then in the afternoon/evening there was a musical event at Robertsbridge Club to remember `Absent Friends` this raised £820.00 which is to be split between St Michaels and the Heart Foundation. This event was very well supported and big thanks must go to all of those that organised it, staff and those that gave their time and musical skills for free to make it happen.

Sally Wadie: Many have been asking when the funeral for Sally Wadie is taking place. These are the details that we have been given.

The funeral will take place on Friday 14th October at Ticehurst Church at 1.15pm. Then for just the family at the crematorium. There are to be no flowers but donations to Cancer Research Uk or to McMillan Nurses. The funeral is being directed by Fuggles at Tenterden and they will have a designated page for Sally on their website twfuggle.co.uk (this will be under obituaries) where people can leave messages. Donations can be sent c/o Fuggles or directly to requested charities.

FOOTBALL: The Bridge 2nd team traveled to Division 4 side Mayfield II in the 1st Round of the ESFL Chairmans Challenge Cup. The Bridge started strongly and in the first 15 minutes should have been in front but poor finishing from Jason Marsh, Kenny Jones and Paul Rockett let the hosts off the hook and this told as they got more into the game and on the stroke of half time they scored in a goal mouth mele. The second period was even and Marsh put the ball over the bar after 75 minutes but The Bridge equalized on 86 minutes when JJ Boast cut in from the left and unleashed a 30 yard shot which the keeper had no chance of saving to take the tie into extra time. The hosts took the lead again on 96 minutes but again The Bridge hit back with a header from Andy Barden after 110 minutes and this was to stay the score after the extra time period. It was now down to a penalty shoot out and the hosts kept their nerve and won 4-2. Tomorrow the 1st team are at home to Ore Athletic in the Premier Division while the 2nd team are away to Bexhill Spartans at Bexhill Road with both matches K.O. 3p.m. The Race Night last Saturday was poorly attended by the footballers but a big thank you to all the people that attended who enjoyed a fun evening to raise funds for the Bridge. A special thank you to Scott Hayward for his hard work before the event to get the sponsors which made the night profitable and also to Liam for his witty comments in between the races.
