School shake-up planned

PLANS to shake-up the schools in Adur have been launched by West Sussex County Council.

The council are launching a consultation programme at the end of the month to look at whether children in the district should continue to go to secondary school at 12 years old, or whether they should go a year earlier, at 11.

The plans also want to look at education and training for young people aged from 14 to 19 and children's services in Adur.

County councillor Robert Dunn said: "I hope that as many people as possible will look out for the consultation documents when they are sent out later this month, and take advantage of the opportunity to help shape services for children in Adur in the most effective way."

The closing date for responses will be at the end of November. Any major changes are expected to be introduced for September 2008.
