Second spate of smashed windows

A SECOND spate of window smashing by vandals occurred in Bexhill during the early hours of Saturday morning, with 10 properties being targeted, apparently at random.

Bricks and stones were used to cause hundreds of pounds worth of damage to homes in Clifford Road, Dorset Road, Ashdown Road, Ridgewood Gardens, College Road, Albatross Court and Links Drive.

The attacks follow similar incidents the week before, when a slim male, around 5ft 4ins tall, wearing a black-and-white hooded top, caused damage to six properties by throwing stones at windows and doors.

On that occasion, the trail of destruction took in Clifford Road, Marina, De La Warr Road and Sutton Place.

Sgt Trish Reeve-Fowkes, of Bexhill Police, said: "Quite apart from the damage involved, these attacks can be terrifying for the occupants, who are often asleep at the time and are woken by their windows going in."

She added: "Unfortunately there are no descriptions of the offender or offenders on the latest occasion. Police are very keen to hear from anyone who may have information that could lead to them being identified."

Calls should be made to 0845 6070999 or details left on the Crimestoppers link line, 0800 555111.
