Sedlescombe and District Flower club host their Christmas meeting this Wednesday December 12 at the village hall from 7.30pm, doors are always open from 7pm though. This will take the form of a Christmas social evening including an opportunity to see Sheila Benson our Chairman present some quick and easy ideas for the Festive season. This should be very popular as most of us think we have lots of time in the lead up to Christmas and then it promptly arrives before we have accomplished all the wonderful things we were expecting to complete. I have been asked to remind those members who kindly agreed to donate towards the evening to please remember to bring it along. Visitors are very welcome to come along and enjoy the evening with members as we start to make Christmas look beautiful.

Here is the news from Sedlescombe CE Primary School. There is much preparation taking place for Christmas celebrations for the children. This is such a fun time of the year. On Thursday December 6 the school choir is singing carols at a Christmas Lunch for the elderly at Kings Church on The Ridge, Hastings. On Friday December 7, the school choir is singing with a London Gospel Choir at the Kings Church at 7pm, this is open to everyone, so do please come along and enjoy this wonderful concert. On Monday December 10 the school choir is singing at a Christmas Concert at the De La Warr Pavilion with six other local schools and then on Thursday December 20 the school choir is singing carols at a seniors home in Robertsbridge called Grottenhem Manor. This will be a busy, yet enjoyable time for the children.

In addition to this, we are singing carols around the village on the evening of Thursday December 20 from 6.45 to 8.00pm, to collect for St. Michael’s Hospice. Members of the village community are welcome to join us, meet us by the village pump at 6.45pm, wrap up warm and please bring a torch.

On Friday December 7 in the afternoon, in our school hall, we have a wonderful Christmas treat for the whole school, a performance of ‘The Nutcracker’ by a travelling drama/dance company. This will be a wonderful experience for all the children to enjoy together.

We thank everyone most sincerely who supported our PTA Christmas Fayre on Saturday December 1. It was a very happy and successful occasion, and Father Christmas managed to find time to join us too. We have raised xxx for our school swimming pool works just brilliant. The school was buzzing with Christmas stalls, games, raffles, delicious food and fun for everyone. Thank you from Marian Ham.

With so many dates for events it is quite amazing how everyone at school remembers everything going on , well done to Mrs Ham and all the teachers and staff that work so hard to ensure all these learning experiences for the children there, they are indeed very fortunate.

Supporters of St Michaels Hospice, and I know there are quite a few in the village, will be interested to know that their fundraising team have arranged a Christmas Market at Cooden Beach Hotel this Saturday December 8 from 10am until 4pm. There will be a plenty of craft and gift stalls on offer for you to buy that perfect Christmas present. Refreshments will be on offer in this lovely setting overlooking the sea. Asselton Cakes has been proud to be a supplier to the Hospice Open garden scheme this year so I am very happy, personally, to promote this winter fundraiser for a cause that is always in need of assistance and I know very close to many people in the area. They look forward to your support this weekend.
