Sidley School fun run

Children from Sidley Community Primary school had a taste of what it might be like to run a marathon by holding a 'Fun-Run' which was opened by Educational Psychologist and London Marathon runner Phil Weiner.

All the children, who were aged between four and eleven years old, were awarded certificates for competing in the one mile run, with the younger children being supported around the course by members of staff.

The event was well supported by parents and, sponsorship money will be donated to a charity which will be chosen at a later date by the year five pupils.

Headmistress Julie Reece said: "We want to promote exercise and show that it can be fun and enjoyable and, for the children to have a taste of what it was like to compete in a longer run. Everyone really enjoyed it and all the children entered into the spirit of the occasion."
