YEAR 6 pupils at Sidley Community Primary School were given books as leaving presents in a special ceremony this week.

Students, parents and teachers took part in a special assembly to wish the leavers luck and celebrate their achievements at the primary school

To mark the day, each child was presented with a book they had chosen from a list of titles they had recently been given.

The funding for gifts came from the Sidley Traders Association.

They were represented at the school by Cllr Jim Carroll who made the presentations.

The ceremony was also attended by the chairman of governors and Bexhill High head Mike Conn.

Sidley head teacher Julie Reece said: "It really was lovely. It was an opportunity to share in all the things the children have achieved.

"As head, I would like to thank the Sidley traders for making it possible."
