Snow: Balcombe exhibition postponed

BALCOMBE History Society - which was due to stage its first exhibition on Saturday - says it has posponed the event due to the weather.

The group, which only formed last year, was preparing to exhibit many old photographs and boxes of documents, which people were being invited to look through, on Saturday at the Parish Room in Stockcroft Road.

But chairman Graham Gosney said this morning that he had now emailed all members cancelling the event until further notice because of the difficulty people were facing caused by the deep snow.

He said: “People have other concerns at the moment without trying to get to an exhibition.”

Mr Gosney said the event would probably be rescheduled for some time in the Spring.

Like many other villages, Balcombe is currently inpassable on many of its roads with only single vehicle tracks made by the few 4x4 vehicles that have been able to navigate the snow.

Overnight falls have left the snow up to 14inches deep in places.
