Staying in touch with Bexhill's past

BEXHILL S colourful past is now available at a touch.

Touch a screen and up come photographs and a potted history; press a button to hear an oral history; press another to see a colour film of the town as it appeared in 1960.

A long-held dream has been realised by Bexhill Museum Association with the opening of its multi-media access centre.

The 60,000 project has been made possible by a mixture of Lottery grant and devoted work by Rother Museums curator Julian Porter and dedicated volunteers such as association chairman Megan Traice, vice chairman Alan Beecher and administrator Don Phillips.

Until now, visitors to the museum wishing to research aspects of the town s past have had to make appointments to see Julian or Don so that irreplaceable archive material can be brought out of safe storage.

Now all that has changed. The multi-media access centre has been designed to be user-friendly.
